Well, by now you should all be riding around on a new set of tires thanks to the great “buy three get one free” deal this week at Cash-n-Carry. And if you liked that special deal you are going to love the one we have next week. With winter coming one of the things we take for granted is that our car heater is going to work on that first frigid morning; few things are more uncomfortable than riding to work with a cold seat. With that in mind next week we are offering 20% off all heater cores, making next week the perfect time to ensure that your seat will be warm all winter long.

But wait! We can hear you all asking: what is a heater core? Our apologies to those of you who don’t speak used-parts lingo; let’s take a look at how the heating system in your car works and then you’ll know what you are buying next week when you come to our Savannah salvage yard in search of savings.

A heater core in a vehicle is actually a small radiator and it is usually located underneath the dashboard. To understand how it works one needs to understand something about the internal combustion engine. These engines are cooled by a combination of water and antifreeze that circulates through the engine and radiator with the assistance of a water pump. As one would expect, this water/antifreeze mixture becomes quite hot while the car/truck is running, and it is that heat that is used to heat the interior of the car cabin. By diverting some of that superheated water to the heater core and by dispersing that heat using fins (or fans), warm air is forced into the passenger cabin thus keeping your seat warm.

When you fiddle with the thermostat dials to regulate the amount of heat you are actually regulating the amount of water/coolant that is allowed through the heater core and by extension the amount allowed into the cabin of the car.

Having said all that, it should now be apparent to all concerned that if the heater core is not working properly you are going to be in for a rude awakening first thing on a December or January morning when you let the car engine warm up and then sit down on a frigid seat, thus assuring that you will be wide awake within seconds. So let’s avoid that unpleasant experience and head on down to our junk yard next week and take advantage of our 20% off sale on heater cores.   There Is no reason for you to pay top dollar for replacement parts when you can come to Cash-n-Carry and experience huge savings on recycled auto parts.
