Kia Rio: The Poor Man's Choice
So you say you need a new car but there is no way you can afford one? Well think again! If all you want is a serviceable vehicle that will provide reliable transportation for ten years and is fuel efficient and inexpensive then look no further than the Kia Rio.
Introduced in 2001, the Rio has undergone a bit of a change since that first year but what hasn’t changed is the fact that it is a very inexpensive new car, offered currently for just over $12,000. On the other end of spectrum you can still find some first generation Rios for under $2000 that are still very good cars with many miles left on them. Whichever way you go, new or used, the Rio is definitely the poor man’s option.
The Rio is available as a sedan and a four-door hatchback and is definitely a subcompact with all that that entails. It is “powered” by a 110-horsepower 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and we use the word “powered” very generously. With a five-speed manual transmission you are looking at some serious fuel efficiency but you are also looking at practically zero extra room for cargo and rather dismal crash test scores.
This is the least expensive model that Kia makes and that is saying quite a bit when you consider that Kia only makes inexpensive cars. No matter whether you buy new or used you are getting the following:
- A very inexpensive means of transportation
- A car built with reliability in mind by a trusted car manufacturer with a good track record
- A car that could drive the narrow streets of Europe very easily (said with tongue in cheek)
- A car that will give you ten good years of trusted service
- A car that you will not be able to use when hauling your kid’s soccer team
All kidding aside, the Kia Rio is built to last and so are its replacement parts. You can buy used parts for a Rio with confidence and quite frankly they are very inexpensive when compared to other cars on the market; but, you can buy those used import parts at a much lower price from a salvage yard and there are no better deals than at our Savannah salvage yard, Cash-n-Carry.
Why pay more for replacement parts? Just from the fact that you own a Rio we can deduce that you are cost-conscious, so why pay more for the used parts? Check us out for the best deals in towns on Kia parts.
