The Hyundai Accent: Reliable But Homely
There is an abundance of good news about the Hyundai Accent and just a smattering of bad news. What say we begin with the good news?
The Accent is truly one of the better-built sub-compacts on the market, continually out-performing other cars in that segment of the market. Considering that there are a number of competitors in this crowded subcompact market, that’s saying quite a bit. Add to that the fact that Hyundai has always given one of the best warranties available, a five-year/60,000 mile basic warranty and a ten-year/100,000 mile drivetrain warranty, and you basically have a car that will last you decades with little worry.
Adding to the positives we can tell you that the Accent is fairly roomy, has a decent standard equipment list, and accelerates about as well as you could ask for, and you have quite a few reasons for buying a Hyundai Accent.
Now that bad news: the Accent safety ratings are pretty bad, and the competition easily outshines the Accent when it comes to style. No doubt about it, the Accent is one boring subcompact to look at. Sorry but why sugar-coat it? It also has a fairly poor resale value. Oops, that’s three negatives. Sorry again!
So what does this all mean? The Hyundai Accent is a very reliable car as are its replacement parts. You buy used parts or aftermarket parts for an Accent and you can rest assured that those used car parts will function quite nicely for a number of years and that really is good news for a car owner.
Another nugget of good news is that since the resale value of an Accent is so poor it is pretty easy to find a used Accent for a relatively low price, and if you don’t much care about the appearance you are getting a great deal on a secondhand car.
Cash-n-Carry, the Savannah salvage yard where car-lovers shop for used parts, generally has a number of Hyundai Accents on their You Pull It lot just waiting for you to pick over. Sign up on our Facebook page or better yet sign up for the live RSS feeds and you will know immediately when one of these Accents comes onto the self serve yard. And since you get a coupon good for 25% off any one item when you sign up, you are looking at serious savings on your next Accent replacement part. And once you buy that used part (or aftermarket part) you will feel pretty confident that you won’t have to replace that part again because it came from one of the most reliable cars on the road.
