The Hyundai Elantra: A Success Story

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

The Hyundai Elantra is a success story, a feel good story that we can all relate to. Anyone who has ever attempted something new is well aware of the mistakes we make prior to getting it right. That’s the story with the Hyundai Elantra. First introduced in 1993, the Elantra was an economy sedan that was tacky in appearance and quality; but give the folks at Hyundai their credit because they recognized this fact and improved it greatly so that today the Elantra stands among the leaders in the economy sedan market.

Today the Elantra has a smooth ride, has excellent reliability, performs and handles quite nicely, and has a long list of standard features. All of this adds up to an excellent choice for under $15,000. And oh, did we mention that the interior is about as roomy as you will find in an economy sedan?

In other words, in today’s economic world, for a family looking for an inexpensive way to tool around town, the Elantra has to be considered when buying a new car. The exact opposite can be said when considering the older models of the Elantra. Sure, you can find one of those early 90s models for under a thousand, but do you really want to? There are much better choices for a secondhand car under the Toyota or Nissan brand, so stick to those for older models and seriously consider the Elantra as a new model choice.

Considering the fact that the Elantra has been around for close to two decades, replacement parts are easy to find at any auto parts store or dealership, but the same can be said about any reputable salvage yard. At Cash-n-Carry we regularly have older Elantra models on our You Pull it lot and at considerably lower prices than at an auto parts store or dealership. All you need is your tools and a computer to look up how to replace the used part. And yet there are those out there who aren’t willing to try replacing a part and quite frankly that is just plain silly.

Sure, if we are talking about replacing an engine or transmission you need a certain amount of technical knowledge, but for most replacement parts you simply need a little good old fashioned American effort, and the satisfaction you will get from replacing a part by yourself and knowing that you saved major dollars in the process, well, that is so worth it.

Come on down to our Savannah salvage yard and see for yourself. A word to the wise: sign up for our newsletter and you will receive a coupon good for 25% off any replacement part. You might as well save as much money as possible if you are going to roll up your sleeves and do the work yourself.
